Tanner Williams
A rich playboy who has a fascination with flying balloons even though
he has a habit of crashing into the bridge over the local gorge. Tanner
thinks of himself as a guardian of Serton but has a secret that he is
unwilling to share with anyone. While normally very happy and jovial
Tanner does have a dark and sometimes violent side, which shows through
occasionally. Since the discovery of Susan’s visions and Shane’s
unexpected arrival in town, the trio have become good friends and have
decided to help fight any evil in the town. Recently Tanner was given a
gift of some kind by a mysterious man called Kerrigan Wilde who
insisted that Tanner was an angel. When confronted on the issue Tanner
denied that he was an angel but could not say what he was.
Susan Forrester
Working as the town’s midwife has brought her into contact with quite a
few people in town but Susan is a loner. Susan’s grandmother hinted to
her when she was younger that she had the power to see briefly into the
future. Susan discovers this talent herself just as a new evil arises
in town although she is unable to control or use her power to make it
really useful. During the incident with the beast, she clashed terribly
with Alexander who she later had to save in a deadly attack. The pair
agreed to work together even though they have issues with each other.
Unexpectedly, Jennifer Duprie has came to Susan asking her to help her.
Susan took the woman under her wing and is helping to train her as a
midwife to help her if her visions become too strong. Susan has been
terrified by the visions. After an incident where Taribo acted as her
guide, Susan discovered that the visions may come from hell. This was
further confirmed when the last time Susan had a vision to find
Alexandra she was almost consumed by the black tentacles of some
strange force. What was more eerie was that her vision was guided away
to something else leaving Susan confused.
Shane Carter
New to town, Shane regards himself as a hunter of evil. He has tracked
demons and evil men all over America. He has been drawn to Serton
because he senses that there is evil in the town. Shane is quite a
modern boy and decides to help out Tanner upon his arrival. Shane is
very dedicated to his job and is used to working on his own. After the
fight with the beast and Leonard’s attack on him, Shane was left with a
wound in his side that is healing slowly. While he overlooks the fact
that Leonard went temporarily insane, he still keeps in the back of his
mind that Leonard is a murderer. During the recent incident with the
Summers sisters, Shane found himself drawn to Alexandra. However after
a few visits where their relationship seemed to be blossoming there was
a disaster, the beast, as summoned by Elizabeth, attacked Alexandra.
Shane, in a state of shock, made love to Alexandra and as she became
pregnant there was a question as to who the father was. When the baby
was born everyone was left in no doubt. Now Shane feels isolated from
Alexandra who refuses to love him even though she keeps pulling him
closer. Even his friends feel distant due to the recent troubles in his
life.
Leonard McGuigan
Leonard was married to Mary-Anne until the beast was summoned to Serton
and accidentally killed her. Leonard was devastated as he had been
devoted to his work as the priest of the town and found that he had
driven his wife into the arms of another man, Taribo. Furious at
Taribo, he murdered him with a gunshot to the face. Leonard went
temporarily insane but was able to pull himself together to help send
the beast back to where it had come from. Leonard now feels terrible
guilt for everything he did the night the beast was summoned. His best
friend in town is Alexander Duprie. Leonard recently discovered that
the ghost of Taribo now haunts him. Although Taribo says he has
forgiven Leonard the priest still feels incredible guilt. His
relationships with Tanner, Susan and Shane seem to be growing stronger
and there is a certain spark between Susan and the priest.
Alexander Duprie
Owning most of the land for the town has left Alexander very rich. He
enjoys a comfortable lifestyle with his wife Jennifer and runs a very
successful importing and exporting business. Alexander is good friends
with Leonard and the pair enjoy each others company. Alexander is a
little out of his time as he still has servants which are of colour but
he refuses to modernise since this is the lifestyle to which he has
grown accustomed to. Since the incident with the beast he has found a
new place to focus his anger. He believes that many women are inferior
to men and should not be placed in danger. Susan has also caused him
annoyance after she tried to sacrifice his friend to save everyone
else. Alexander fell out with his wife after Jennifer told him of her
intentions to seek training under the guidance of Susan. Alexander
forbade his wife from going ahead with the training but once he had
found out that she had gone behind his back he told her that he wanted
nothing to do with her. After a fight with his friend Leonard,
Alexander began to realise how stupid and foolish he had been. He made
up with Jennifer and the pair are about to have their first child.
Jennifer Duprie
Alexander’s wife, Jennifer enjoys the benefits that a rich lifestyle
has brought her. She comes across as haughty and rude to people who
have less than her. She spoke regularly to Mary-Anne, Leonard’s wife,
before her untimely demise. Jennifer was deeply traumatised by the
incident with the beast and begins to wonder what else there is in
life. Jennifer began to realise, after the incident with the beats,
that perhaps she was not fulfilling all that she could in life. She
found out that she hated the person she was, vain and pompous, and
wished to change. With a growing desire to help people she went to
Susan so that she could train to be a midwife but her plan has a
drawback. Her husband had an intense dislike of Susan and forbade her
from going. Jennifer defied her husband and went anyway and found that
Alexander wanted nothing more to do with her. Alexander has since made
up with Jennifer and the pair are now expecting their first child.
Alexandra Summers
Alexandra is Elizabeth’s younger sister and daughter of the late
Francis Summers; she has arrived back in town along with Elizabeth to
reclaim the life they once had. Alexandra is quieter than her sister
but can still be as stubborn. When Alexandra found out that her sister
had murdered their father to cover up her own misdeeds, Alexandra
turned her back on Elizabeth. Alexandra feels slightly lost in the big
house now that her sister has gone but finds that she has an attraction
towards Shane. After an incident, brought on by Elizabeth, Alexandra
found herself attacked and raped by the beast. She begged Shane to make
love to her to wipe out the memory of that day and he did however that
had a negative effect on Alexandra and now she associates Shane with
that day. Alexandra found herself pregnant and tried to abort the baby
herself. She had been growing steadily more unstable as the pregnancy
went on and when the baby was born she found it is was a spawn of the
beast and wanted nothing to do with it.
Elias Crane
Elias is a constable in the town of Serton. Initially he came through
town on the trail of Elizabeth Summers but his superiors felt he would
be of use in town due to the appearance of opium running in and around
Serton. Elias can be quite shy when it comes to people and eager to
please them. He feels put down by his father after years of physical
and mental abuse which his father claimed was training. His mother
killed herself after she could take her illness no more and Elias’s
father refuses to believe his wife could commit suicide. He trained
Elias to become a constable and to hunt down the killers.
Quantas Brock
Quantas was married to Charlotte until she died during childbirth. His
new daughter was named charlotte after her mother but Quantas is not
happy at having to look after a child. At best Quantas is a womaniser
but he appears to have some more secrets. A man called Greenville has
returned into his life and is demanding that Quantas works for him once
more in his opium dealings.

Greenville is a very dangerous man. On the surface of things he deals
in opium and is very profitable but there is more to him than meets the

as one of his employees again.
